THE WARM REGION.
Per Press Association. Rotorua, Saturday. Sixteen distinct shocks of earthquake in 30 minutes wore folt at Waiotapu Prison at about,B o’clock yeßtorday morning, and a similar number at WaimaDgu. A new geyser, said to be second to Waimangu, has broken out on the Spa property, Taupo, formerly known as the Crystal Pool, between tho Big Crow’s Nest and the Little Crow’s Nest Geysers. It ejoots stones and water to a height of 70ft, and plays about every three quarters of an hour. What is now a geyser has hitherto been known as a very quiet dear stream.
, Mr Gallagher, of the Spa, Taupo, in the course ot a letter to Mr J. Boss, states that the geyser referred to iu tho above message has been playing for upwards of a week. It was named by Mr Williams, of Hastings, who is on a visit to the Spa, “Wat Pikirangi ’’ (“The Aspiring Water ”). Mr Gallagher states that although he has known tbs district for 85 years he has never heard of this pool being active before.
