At the Police Court yestorduy morning' William Cameron was charged with stealing £0 15s troin the person of Norman Semmens. Semmons met accu3od for the first tune on Saturday lußt, and gave him a shilling to get a meal, as ho said he was “ broke.” In tho ovening, whilst witness was putting £5 into his purse in the passage of tho Coronation Hotol, Cameron rushed at him and scattered tho notes on tho floor. After a short souffle accused hit witness on tho eye and escaped. Four pounds of tho money was picked up from tho floor and returned to witness. Cameron, who had been hiding on Whataupoko, was arrested by Constabio Hancox on tho 22ud, and upon being brought into tho yard with about a dozen others, was at once identified by Peterson, porter of the Coronation Hotol, as tho man wanted. After some consideration, Cameron decided to plead guily, and was committed for trial at tho next sitting of the Supremo Court at Auckland. Bail was allowed in £IOO and two suroties at £SO each.
