In the course of discussion at the Borough Council last night, Cr Lysnar asked that his protest he recorded against the giving o£ information to Mr I-lay that had been withheld from Mr Cr Miller said that it was rather amusing to hear Cr Lysnar asking to Have .Jiis protest recorded ; in some other walks of life a deposit was required to he made with' a protest, and if it /was frivolous the deposit was forfeited. Cr Lysnar would lose his deposit if one were required in this matter, as his protest was frivolous. After the Borough Council meeting last night, a meeting of the Charitable Aid Board was held. At the wee ting of tlie Charitable

(Aid Board last night* the following letter from Dr Morrison, was read “ Dear Sir,—ln reply to your communication, 1 shall be pleased, as heretofore, to give my, services gratuitously to the Old Men’s Home. .The members oj your Board will excuse my that the position being a purely honorary one, ; I shall hope that out of courtesy and consideration; should any member have any real or fancied complaint with regard to medical attendance at the Home, he will be goad enough first to personally acquaint me with the same. With regard to the matter of incurables, mav be the Government should make some provision for such cases, but meanwhile it is a question of the Hospital or the Home. Nov; the Hospital is not the place, nor could I, as surgeon superintendent, keep such cases there indefinitely. Of the two, the Old Men’s Home is by far the most suitable.- They are there-completely provided for and looked after, which is what they requite. Nor do I think anyone has much reason to say that they are hardly dealt by. Many, lam 'sure, are far more comfortable and better cared for in the Home than they would be even if they, had homes of their own to go to.” Or Lysnar remarked that the letter was a very satisfactory one, and added that if they had had something of the kind before a good deal of 'the discussion at' the Board meetings would have, been avoided. On liis motion, which was seconded by Cr Miller, it- was resolved to write thanking Dr Morrison.
