SUPREME COURT.
Per Press Association. Wellington, last night. At the Supreme Court William Loft and Frank Coyle were indicted for robbery with violence at Foxton. Coyle was acquitted, and Loft was convicted and sentenced to five yearsi’ mprisonment. Robert Ogilvie was convicted of an unnatural offence at Feilding, and remanded for sen-
tence till to-morrow. Frank King, aged about 22, who had pleaded guilty in the Lower Court to thirteen burglaries in Wei, lington, admitted another similar charge. He was remanded fee sentence. NEW RAILWAY OFFICES.
The new Railway Department offices, a large three-storeyed building in Featberston street, the foundation stone of which was laid by the Prince of Wales on his visit to Wellington, was opened this after, noon by the Governor in the presence of a considerable number of invited guests. His Excellency in the courso of his speech, spoke of the importance of the North Island main trunk line, which he thought would be open to traffic ere long. He pointed to the development of the tourist traffic, and remarked that with good hotels and facilities for travel New Zealand would reap from tourists financial benefits similar to those secured by Switzerland. Sir Joseph Ward spoke of thtf' progress and improvement of the railway service during the last few years. Though there had been considerable development, Go-: vernment had in commission and allowances given back to the U3ers ot railways a sum amounting to £IIO,OOO.
