A FIRE.

Per Press Association. Nelson, last night. Griffon and Sons’, Ltd., confectionery and biscuit factory was burnt down at 5 o’clock this morning, being totally destroyed. A largo number of poopio have been thrown out of employment. Tho insurances amount to about £9OOO, and the loss is considerably over that amount-.,

The insurance on Gritfin and Sons’ confectionery mill and biscuit factory are : Building, Northern Office £IOOO, Liverpool, London, and Globe £3000; stock, Guardian £2OOO, South British £I7OO, Sun £IOOO, United £300; machinery, Liverpool, London, and Globe £2200, Standard £300; traps, etc.', South British, £3OO ; total, £9IOO, Two dwellings damaged wore insured for £75 each in the Northern. The loss over insurance is about £IO,OOO. It is unknown how the fire originated. There will ho a considerable loss in customers' stock.
