POVERTY BAY ROWING CLUB’S TRIAL FOURS.
The Poverty Bay Rawing Club commenced their trial four races on the Taruheru river last evening, with favorable weather and. a splendid tide. The race was between Arch. Kirk, str F. Fox, str
E. Morris, 3 J. Morrissey, 3 E. Newton, ‘2 A. McConnell, 2 J. Roderick, bow W. Pritchard, bow
The crews were despatched to an excel* lent start, bus Kirk’s crew shortly afterwards secured uu advantage, wnich they held to the brilgc. Hera Fox’s crew assumed the lead, aud though Kirk tried bard to come ou level terms, Fox succeeded in passing she post 4ft in front of his opponent. The competing crews for this evening are : A, W. Kirk, str Alf, Pritchard, str A, Somervelli 3 J. Brooking, 3 F. Pearson, 2 P. Lynch, 2 A. Oxonham, bow Lon Tate, bow To-morrow evening the final will taka place, when the winners of this evening’s event and Fox’s crew row off.
