The Department of Industries and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the Agont-Goneral, dated London, 14th: Tho weather continues unfavorable to the meat and provision markets. Tho trade in mutton is very disappointing, there being only a very limited demand. The market is decidly weaker. Prices are slightly lower. The lamb market has been unfavorably affected by the low prices ruling for mutton. Mutton, average Dl'iC° to-day, Canterbury brands, 4Jd. There is scarcely ?uy demand for beef. Quotations are nominal. The average pi-fee tg-day of hindquarters, New Zealand beef, is'.3(4 to 3|dj topes, 2sd to 2 jfi. Supplies of Argentine’ ch filed '.fcepf are heavy, and they are offering at low prices. Tho butter market is quiet, with a tendency in favor of buyers. Tho average price for choicest New Zealand butter today is 106 s por cwt. Stored butter is irregular in price and slow of sale. Danish has fallen to 116 s. The Turakina’s shipment of this season’s New Zealand butter is on the manket. Th.e cheese market is steady, but without animation. Canadian is at 53s to 54s per cwt. The hemp market is firmer. Spot quotations for good, fair Wellington grade, and for shipments up to March next, are .£3l 10s per too. There has been no alteration in the cocksfoot Beed market Binee last week.
