TENNIS.
Oil Friday afternoon, a number of ladies assembled at the tennis courts to have a friendly match. The ploy took tho form of progressive singles, and some very good games resulted. Some of the beginners were extremely keen, and tho energetic manner in which they tackled their opponents promises well for future play. In tho first round the following games were played : —Miss F. MoOredie (owe 40) beat Mis 3 Sweet; MiBS F. Adams (owo 40) beat Miss D. Bright ; Miss J. Macfarlano beat Miss E. Cussen ; Miss D. Jones beat Miss Coleman; Miss Cussen beat Miss E. Boynolds. In tho semifinals Miss F. Adams beat Miss Cussen, and Miss F. McCredie beat Miss Macfarlano. l'ho finals resulted in a win for Miss F. MeCredio, who receives tho prize donated by tho Captain, Miss MoOredie. Afternoon tea was then indulged in, and completed a very enjoyable afternoon. A match will be arranged shortly between town and couutry members.
