The Borough Solicitor advises the Corporation that it is powerless to prevent the sale of meat in town inspected by the Government at the Frozen Meat Company’s Works, and uri which abattoirs fees have been paid. This has been done under a verbal agreement, but the butchers who kill at the municipal abattoirs object. The arrangement is profitable, as tile Borough receives about £30(1 a year from the Company, for which no service is rendered. The Council decided to prosecute both the Frozen Meat Company and the distributing agency. WESTPORT, last night.
Gunner Powell, of the Westport Artillery, found guilty by a Court of Enquiry of using insolent language to his superior officer and behaving in a disorderly manner in uniform, has been dismissed from the volunteer force.
