A MAYOR’S MISTAKE.

Dunedin, last night. * j ,^ Mayor of Mornington, was sued by a ratepayer for a breach of clause .’ sootion 68, of tho Municipal Corporations Act, 1900, in that he presided at a meeting of the Council when a resolution was carried giving free passes on the tramways to Councillors. Mr Carew, S.M., held that all the Councillors had a pecuniary interest, and therefore tho Act applied. Ho fined defendant 20a and costa.
