OBITUARY.
Per Press Association. Timaru, last night,
'James Bruce, a man of mark in tho early days of South Canterbury, is dead. Ho was first a sawruiller at Waimate, Then he established a sawmill at Timatu ; erected next a flour-mill, which was burned down, and re-erected on a larger scale as the first roller mill in the colony. JLator ho lived for some years in Wellington. Ho returned to Timaru two years ago, an invalid.
