The weather was fine overhead, with a fresh northerly broezo. The attendance was again large. The results were Petone Hurdles.—Killarney 1, Defiunce 2, Evening 8. Scratched :Dr Bill. Won by three lengths, a similar distance between second and third. Time, 2.49 1-5. Div., £3 Is and £2 11s. Tararua Hack.—Stepson 1, Hydrant 2, Lass o’ Gowrie 8, All started. Won easily by 14 lengths. Time 1.30 85. Div £3 12s and 17s.
Poarco Haudicap.—Melwood 1, Battleaxe 2, Pallas 3. All started except Idea. Molwood came away at the turn eptoring the straight, and won easily by 14 lengths, a neck between second and third. Time, 1.55 2-5. Divs. £6 15s and AS 9s 6d.
Spring Trial Stakos. —Sea Lion 1, Bose Madder 2, Scrip 3. Scratched : Ngatutor, Romany, Catspaw, Count Gorton, Thunderer, and St. Alba. Won by two lengths. Time 1.17, Div £2 4s 6d.
Hutt Park Handicap.—Gold Seal 1, Field Battery 2, Idea 3. Scratched : Will o’ the Wisp, Okcari, Platypus, Betsy. Won by two lengths. Timo l - 30.1-5. Div. 114 14s and ill 2s 6d.
Ruahino Hack Handicap.—Lass o’ Gowrio 1, Good Spec 2, Contingent 3. Won by two lengths. Timo 1.16 3-5. Div £5 7s (id and AS 18s. Juvenile Handicap.—Gold Crown 1, Purdey 2, Sir Percival 3. Won by 14lengths. Time, 1.1 1-5. £3 19s Gd and 153 6d.
Nainai Handicap.—Madrigal 1, Starshoot 2, Full Cry 3. Won by a head. Time 1.2 4-5. Div AS 17s and £1 2s. The sunt of .£10,849 was put through the tote, making £20,878 for the meeting, against £13,413 handled at last year’s spring meeting.
