The Midland Railway Petitions Settlement Act Amendment Bill passed the final stages.
Mr Seddon moved the second reading of the Land and Income Assessment Act Amendment Bill, to romovo anomalies in the prosent Act Tho dobato was interrupted by the 5.30 adjournment.
The Houso resumed at 7.30. Mr Seddon aunouneod that tho second conference with the Legislative Council regarding tho State Fire Insurance Bill had been resultless, and at his suggestion it was decided to ask for a third conference.
The, debate on tho second reading of tho Land and lucomo Assessment Act Amendment Bill has occupied tho whole ovening.

(Per Press Association.) Aucklaud, last night. The Hon. E. Mitchelson, chairman of Mitchelson’s Timber Company, has telegraphed to tho Premier : " Before the expiration of tho next four years necessity will compel absolute prohibition of the export of kauri timber in any form.” Mr Mitohelson considers there is no reason
why any kauri, even that growing in iso ; lated localities, should be exported, as to 1 be accessible for export it must be within j reach from tho sea coast, whence it could j be conveyed to our mills.
