(Per Press Association.) WAIROA, yesterday. The road from Onepoto to Lako House, Waikaremoana, has been blocked for a few weeks. Tho slips are now being cleared, and it will bo possible to drive to the accommodation houso to-morrow. Arrangements are being made to keep the road opon. PAHIATUA, last night. Tho seven-roomed residenco of W. Hounslow was destroyed by firo this morning. The inmatos had a narrow escape. They got out in their nightdresses. The insurances on the house and furniture are J? 400 in tho Liverpool, London and Globe, and on tho houso £l5O in the Victoria. NEW PLYMOUTH, last nighty On the occasion of the first trip to the breakwater of the Northern Company’s new steamer Rarawa to-day, the Company eutertained about sixty representative townspeople at luncheon on board the vessel, which was greatly admired. DUNEDIN, last night.j Benjamin Curtis, charged with keeping a common gaming house, was committed to the Supreme Court for trial; bail, himself in £IOO and one surety of a like sum.
