CHRISTCHURCH, last night
Mr England, chief officer of tile Morning, injured his right foot today. He was stepping out of a cab in Cathedral Square, and the wheel of a dray went over his foot. The accident is slight, and (will not prevent him leaving in the Morning for Hobart on October 24th.
ASHBURTON, last night.
Evidence was taken in the Magistrate’s Court to-day for transmission to Sydney with the object of 'extraditing Alfred E. Symons, lately caretaker at Mt. Somers Hotel, who ■is charged with the theft of spirits, bedding, furniture, etc., the property of the owner of the hotel, to the value of £2B 11s.
