ROYAL VISITS.

Tho Italian Sovereigns were accorded a magnificent popular welcome. They aro staying at the foreign office. President Loubet in a speech at a State banquet at Elysee, said : “ France regards the visit as a striking manifestation of the close agreement of tho two Governments, and the mutual confidence aud goodwill of the two people. I drink to the glory of the reign and greatness of the prosperity of Italy.” King Emanuel responded with similar cordiality. He snid : “ Tho enthusiastic reception wo received in the city and whole of Franco profoundly touched us. Our presence is rightly interpreted as the result of a happy rapproachement. Italy’s interests lead her to dosire with all hor might the preservation of peace. I know France shares their sentiments. I_ am then doubly happy to bo on French soil.” Illuminations in tho streets drow such throngs that all traffic was stopped. Rome, Oct. 15.
The newspaper Italic says that M. Nelidoff emphasises that tho Czar’s visit to Italy was meroly delayed, not abandoned ; while Mattino, tho Ministerial organ, declares" that Austria used, tho Socialists’ attitudo to persuade tho Czar to postpone his visit, and Germany was equally indisposed io oucourago a rapprochement between Italy and Russia.
