SURPLUS OF £600,000 PREDICTED BY PREMIER. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, lost Dight.

Discussion on the Sea Fisheries Bill tonight was interrupted by Mr Seddon, who mado an announcement regarding the revenue of the colony compared with this time last yoar. The Consolidated Fund showed an increase of £129,000, railways £109,000, stamps, post and telegraph £75,000, beer duty £832, registration and and other fees £4439, territorial £14,782, marine £972, miscellaneous £4928, or a total improvement of ovor £300,000.

Tho Premier added that this showed that the country was going ahead by leaps and bounds. He had pleasure in announcing that the expenditure had been kept well within the estimates, and he believed that at the end of the financial year the surplus would be £600,000 instead of £50,000 as estimated.

Errata. —The Ptemier’s statement that the consolidated fund showed an increase of £129,000 was a slip of the tODgne. He has since explained that he intended to say that the “ Customs revenue ” showed an increase 0f|£129,000.
