BANDSMEN
Peji Press Association. Tirnaru, last night. A reception was tondered to the visiting bands this aftornoon at tho residence of Mr J. W. White, wherea garden party was held. The weather was delightfully fine, and the function a brilliant success. Later.—The garden party held to day to welcomo tho visiting bands was a greut success. The weather was beautiful, and about 3000 persons were present, and after the bands had played a march tho Mayor (Mr Jame 3 Oraigie) formally welcomed the visiting bands, the Tirnaru bands, and members of the contest committee, guests, and ladies* committee at aftccnooQ toa, At a meeting of conductors the bands resolved that a New Zealand Brass Bands’ Association bo formed, and a meeting will be held to put the proposal on a prop'er workable footing. To-night tho Theatre Royal was orowded to excess to hoar nine brass bands play the contost piece. The decision will not bo made known until Friday night after the second test.
