The report was as follows That tne Committee is of opinion that tho present position of tho petitioners is due to defects iu tho regulation of tho Local Elections Act, and recommend Government to bring down legislation to remedy such defects, particularly in rogard to providing for a second poll being takon in all such cases whoro a poll has boon declarod void. Mr Buddo moved that tho report bo roferred to tho Government for consideration. Mr K. McKenzie moved that the report be referred back to the Committee for re consideration. A long debate ensued, lasting until the 5.30 adjournment.
