Tho four-masted barque Clifford, which loft Newcastle, Australia, for San Francisco on July 12th, coal ladon, went ashore in a thick fog, bumping heavily, near San Francisco. It is feared sho will.jbecomo a total loss. The crew were saved.

Tho Messageries Maritimes Co.’s steamor Australian, recently transferred from the Australian to the China-Japan service, outward bound from Marseilles, is ashore at Imaharu, isle of Shicocu, Japan. Tho passengers are safe. Assistance has boen sent.
