SHIP IN DISTRESS.
THE ZEALANDIA TO THE RESCUE.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrigh Received, 11.24 p.m., Sept. 25. Sydney, Sopt. 25.
At six this morning tho steamer Zealandia sighted the American four-masted barquentino Aurora flying signals of distress, and boro down on her. The chief officer of the Zealandia boarded her. Ho found that tho vessel, which was bound from Tacoma to Adelaide with over a million feet of lumber, had been lying helpless for fourteen days ; having lost tho rudder. Provisions were running short, and only three days’ supply of water was left. At considerable risk, owing to tho heavy swell, the Zealandia got a hawser aboard, and within half-an-hour headed back for Sydney. She reached the heads at dusk, and handed the vessel over to a tug and resumed her voyage.
