WAERENGA-A-HIKA STOCK SALE At the sale of dairy stock held by Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. and_ Messrs Dalgety and Co. yesterday there was a moderate attendance. Over a hundred head were yarded, the quality being very variod. Owing doubtless to the number of dairy stock offering recently at clearing sales, buyers’ requirements appeared to be largely filled, and bidding lacked spirit for all inferior lines. Anything showing quality elicited good competition, but business was considerably hampered by high reserves. Springing heifers sold at from £6 to £B, one cow of extra quality being knocked down at £l3. Eighteenmonth heifers sold at £4, and yearlings at £3 3s. One line of ewes and lambs came forward, and although no sheep were advertised or expected, they were keenly competed for, and passed in at 14s, the owner holding out for a few pounds more. The next sale will be held on Thursday next, when large entries are expected, including same splendid entries of sheep.

CLEANING SALE. The Now Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, report on the clearing sale held oh behalf of Mr Robert Atkins, of Patutahi : —There was a large assemblage of people, most of whom came to do business. Bidding was brisk throughout the day, and although many lots had to be offered, the sale was got through in good time. The stock and plant were all in excellent order, and reflected great credit on Mr Atkins.

Cattle : The dairy cows were a very choice lot) and it was evident from the commencement that buyers wore very keen to possess them. For cows in milk and springing to calf the top price was £l6. Several sold at from £l2 to £l3 10s, and eleven of the best averaged £ll 6s. The dry cows and heifers sold at fair prices, from £6 to £8 ss. Calves a few weeks old sold from 13s to 203, and 6 to 8month calves brought £2 7s 6d. Horses : A bay mare made £36 10s, and a useful gelding went at a reasonable price for £22. Pigs : Weaners brought 12s to 14s 6d, porkers 16s, breeding sows 45s to 47s 6d ; the hoar made 32s 6d.

The implements and plant were all in good order and elicited spirited competition. We sold a spring trap for £l6 spriDg cart £ll, Massey-Harris mower £6, Wood mower £9los, double-furrow plough £9 10s, roller £l3 ss, disc harrows £9 10s, rake £6.

We draw attention to the clearing sale on behalf of Messrs .J. and J. McFarlane, to be held at McFarlane’s farm, near Matawhero, on Tuesday, 29th inst., at 11.30. This sale will comprise draught horses and implements, many of which are of more than ordinary interest. A desirable 94 h.p. oil engine should elicit spirited competition.
