PARLIAMENTARY.
HOUSE OF, REPRESENTATIVES. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night. The House met at 2.30. BREACH OF PRIVILEGE. The Privileges Committee report recommending that Mr Emil Schwube, one of the Parliamentary representatives of the New Zealand Times, be fined £ls and tho publisher £25, also that while the Lyttelton Times created a breach of privilege the case would he mot by a caution to the editor to exercise more care in future in seeing that no documents which are of a confidential nature be published. The Privileges Committee reported that the Parliamentary reporter of the New Zealand Times had been guilty of contempt in not disclosing the source whence he obtained information before the Education Committee, and recommended that We be fined £ls, and that in future in similar cases the press reporters be disqualified from occupying seals in the press gallery, and that the publishers of the New Zealand Times be fined £25. In the case of the Lyttelton Times the Committee accepted the explanation offered. The Premier moved that the report of the Committee be adopted, and the recommendations given effect to. This was carried without debate, QUESTIONS. Replies to questions occupied the rest of the afternoon. The House met at 7.30. SECOND READINGS. The following Bills were read a second time pro forma : Trade Monopolies Prevention, Land Act Amendment, Crown Tenants Rent Rebate, Crown Grants Act Amendment, and Land Bill. COASTWISE TRADE BILL. The adjourned debate on the second reading of the Coastwise Trade Bill was resumed, and continued throughout the evening. A good deal of opposition was shown to the Bill.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL’. The Council met at 2.30. STATE FIRE INSURANCE. The State Fire Insurance Bill was re ported from committee.
