GISBORNE RACING CLUB.

A PROSPEROUS YEAR. The annual meeting of the above club was held in the Gisborne Hotel last evening, Mr D. Hepburn presiding. There was a large attendance. The report of the committee was of a highly satisfactory .nature, the meetings during the year having, both financially and from a racing point of view, been crowned with marked success.

The Treasurer in his report stated : 41 At the close of lust year our bank balance stood at £713 17s Bd. Our total roveuue for this yoar has beon £2-137 11s 9d, aud our expenditure £2096 6s (including £125 hold pending appeal), showing a surplus of £3ll 5s 9d. Out of these funds we have invosted the sum of £SOO, at call, at 4 per cunt, interest, and are still able to carry forward a credit balance of £555 3s 6d after paying all liabilities. would point out to members thut this position has been attained notwithstanding the fact that wo' increased the stakes by £165 16s, aud considerably reduced our nomination and acceptance fees. No doubt this policy was un inducement to our outßide patrons to attend our meetings in greater numbers than heretofore, and as a consequence we had some splendid racing both at'the Summer aud Winter Meetings resulting in a very fair distribution of the stakes to our visitors. That the Club is still increasing in popular favor is shown by the gate and grandstand returns for the season, which is a record one. The sum •of £l6 was donated to the Hunt Club by your Committee during the year. The membership of the Club now stands at 57, all of whom I am pleased to say have paid their subscriptions. The amount owing by owners is £37 ss, all of which it is an.ticipated will be duly paid.” The Chuirmau, in moviug the adoption «f she report, congratulated members on the successful year.
