A RETIREMENT
Per Press Associations WELLINGTON, last night.. Mr Peter J. Parfitt, manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Melbourne, formerly inspector of the hank in the South Island, retires on a pension at the end of the present month. EXPORTS TO ARGENTINE. In reply to a cable from Mr Seddon, word has been received that New Zealand live stock are now admitted in the Argentine. A FATAL SHOT. B. W. Penfold, a member of the Post and Telegraph Bides, who was shot in the hack when marking in the the Pollhill Gully range on April 4, died this morning at the hospital. He was a native of Oamaru. An inquest will be held to-morrow. WELLINGTON BURGLARIES. King and Gray, arrested on a number of burglaries, appeared before the Court this morning, and wero remanded to the 15th inst. Council objected to accused being handcuffed together when in the dock, but the police said it was necessary, and the Magistrate declined to interfere.
