A CHARMING SINGER.

ADA CROSSLEY’S ARRIVAU IN NEW ZIEALAND. (Per Press Association.) Auckland, last night, Miss Ada Crosslcy arrived by tho s.s. Sierra. She was received by the Auckland Society of Musicians and numbers of private citizens, Bishop Lcniban, in the absence of the Mayor, welcomed her to the colony, and assured her of a hearty reception hero, as anywhere in the world. New Zealanders had watched her career with interest, and understood her to be in the van of tho oratorio and lyrical world as a contralto. Tho colonies were proud of her, because they had given her birth. Miss Crossloy received welcoming wires from tho Premiers of New South Walos and Queensland, tho Ministor of Lands, Victoria, tho Lord-Mayor of Melbourne, and Sir Joseph Ward on behalf of the New Zoaland Ministry, besides which there were over 50 telegrams from all parts of the colonies, and 80 bundles of letters at Honolulu. The passengers of the Sierra decorated the steamer in accordance with a loyal custom with long wroaths of flowers, in honor of Miss Ada Crossley’s presence. She won tho prize for the best conundrum on board. Beforo her departure from London Miss Crossley had an interview with Hor Majesty the Queen, who wished her succesp, and said Victoria must bo very proud of such a series of singers, and especially of herself. Miss Crossley wont on to Sydney to-day, accompanied by Herr Seherek.
