CONCENTRATION OF TROOPS,

The Sultan has sent the Hnmadish cavalry regiment, including Kurds, to various districts, including Adrianoplo, where 70,000 troops aro concentrating. Disquieting rumors arc current as to tho unsettled state of Syria. Tho Druses are arming, ana it is feared a massacre is imminent.
Europeans, through their Consuls, ask that warships be sent to Boyrout. Maziem Pasha, Yali of Damascus, with two battalions has beau sent to Beyrout to assume direction of affairs. Tho Macedonian Committee assert that Turkey’s policy of a general massacre of Christians rendered it impossible for rebels to refrain from retaliation. Tho Committee claims that tho responsibility rests with the Powers, who, instead of taking steps to moderate barbarities, requirod the Turks to spoedily end tho rovolutitm. Berlin, Sept. 10. Berlin newspapers accuse President Roosevelt of a display of jingoism in connection with tho Beirut, iucidont, for electioneering purposes, and state that his action will result iu needlessly exasperating Mahommedaus.
