CONCERT AND SOCIAL AT TE KARAKA.

Qn Thursday, 26th inst., a concert and social organised by Mr E. Devery and other local gentlemen was held at Te Karaka in aid of the Ormond Convent debt. The following programme was gone through in a moat satisfactory manner:— Pianoforte duet, “ Fairy Whispers,” Misses Law and Benson ; vocal duet, “ You Know You Do,” Misses Harper and Law; recitation, “ The Soldier’s Dream,” Edward Cook; pianoforte overture, Miss Bousfield; wand drill, N. Criteau and E. Cook ; song, Mr Brownley; violin solo, “ Wearing of the Green,” Master Harper ; song, “ Listening,” Miss Nicholson ; recitation, “Lord Ullin’s Daughter,” Miss Devery; song, “ Please Give Me a Penny,” Miss Harper ; club drill, Miss Bousfield ; song, “ As Your Hair Grows Whiter,” Mis 3 Law; vocal duet, “ Play in Your Own Back Yard,” Miss Jones and Miss Bousfield; recitation, “ Curfew Must Not Bing To-night,” Miss Proudfoot; pianoforte solo, “ Sweet Bye and Bye,” Miss Law; song, "Kissing Papa,” Miss L. Law ; song, “ Lorelei,” Mr Von Stein; pianoforte solo, “ Mill Wheel,” Miss Herd; tambourine drill, pupils; chorus, pupils. After the concert dancing was indulged in till 3 a.m. The unqualified success of the entertainment is due to Mr Devery and gentlemen of the district who worked so energetically to make it such a financial success.
