WHATATUTU NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent), The settlers in this district are keen on the telephone. There are no less than 14 private telephones at present connecting with Waipaoa and Mangatu, and I see Mr Campbell is erecting a line to his place, and also connecting;Guthrie Smith Bros, and Barron Bros. y Mr Tylee, from Ormond, held Divine Service here on Sunday morning last, which was well attended. Mr W. Hay takes the service to-morrow at 2.30 p.m. An accident happened to Gnthrio Smith on Sunday morning last, whilst riding to church at Whatatutu. His horse' fell, twisting Mr Guthrie Smith’s foot rather severely, and bruising his shoalder. Every attention was shown to him at Whatatutu, and he has since returned home. Hyland’s Circus gave a performance here on Thursday evening, before a large and appreciative audience, who greatly enjoyed the clever horsemanship.
