THIRD RACE UNFINISHED WITHIN LIMIT.

Reliance is six miles from the light ship She has one hour and ten minutes within which to cover that distance. 3.25 p.m.—Shamrock is hopelessly astern. 4.C p.m.—lt looks futile, but Reliance has set her spinnaker for the last effort to cover three miles and a half in 2G minutes. 4.20 p.m.—The race lias been declared at an end, being unfinished within the time limit.

Ultimately the wind became variable and died away. On the homeward course an obbing tide interfered with a drifting race. Shamrock was upwards of a mile astern. Reliance’s chief contest was against time. The race was declared 11 off” owing to the lack of wind. Relianco finished, exceeding the time eight and a-half minutes. , y
