At a meeting of the South Canterbury Executive of Che Farmers' Onion to-day, a long discussion took place on tho question of registration as an Employers’ Union. Under (rule 16, a committee was set up to prepare cules, and all present agreed to put down their names as a nucleus to the Union. Several mombors asserted that apathy was shown towards the Farmers’ Union in this district, due to supposed inability to assist farmers in labor troubles. Now that this is got over, it is anticipated that more .interest will be shown. Resolutions were passed against extending the county franchise to non-ratepayers, recommending a reduction of thosheep-tax to Is, and the prohibition of the importation of boxes, owing to the risk of anthrax, also asking for on additional member to tho Arbitration Court to represent agricultural and pastoral interests.
