Over twenty thousand viewed the finish of the road race from Warrnambool to Melbourne, J. Arnst, New Zealander, winning off scratch in seven hours 43 minutes, Skeham second in three minutes later. Arnst beat the previous, record for the road by an hour. He received a great ovation.
