IMMENSE EXCURSION FLEET,

By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Received 11.56 p.m., Aug. 21 . New York, Aug. 21.

An immense excursion fleet was kept a mile on either side of the racers. Similarly the revenue cutters cordoned a mile round Sandy Hood light ship. Both vessels at the outset promised equal speed, but Keliance proved the faster boat in light weathor and windward work, She gained constantly,,and pointed higher. The wind was six knots to three, variable, with intervals of calm. There was heavy rain at intervals.

Shamrock tacked frequently, hoping to get a favorable slant of wind. Reliance, which was to windward, followed suit, and kept between her and the mark whon tho wind was slackest.

In a drifting race Rolianoo increasedthe lead, and the breeze freshening still continued to gain. She was two miles ahead before reaching the turn for the run home.

London, Aug. 18.

The various phases of the race were reproduced in miniature in Earl’s Court Hippodrome.
