It is reported in Christchurch that a butcher who has been carrying on business here for a long time has been offered the managership of the meat shops the Premier intends to establish in England. The Canterbury Dairymen’s Association has decided to reduce the retail price of milk from 4d to 3d per quart from September Ist, and the wholesale price from lid to 8d per gallon. The secretary of the Canterbury A. and P. Association states that merchants and citizens generally have taken up the proposal of a winter show very warmly, and the guarantee fund is practically assured.
