At a conference of representatives of the various Protestant Churches and organisations in Victoria, at which the Bishop of Melbourne presided, it was resolved to appoint a campaign committee for the purpose of securing at the nest .-state elections the return of candidates favorable to the introduction of adequate Scripture teaching in State schools. fjijjg Premier’s greatest dilemma, however, is undoubtedly the question of liquor legislation. This he must face sooner or later. By deferring it for a session he hopes to allay the feeling that already exists in the constituencies. Many people think that by delay he will only accentuate it, and many fear that if the liquor question looms at all largely at the next election we shall have as the result a prohibition Parliament. There can be no question about it, delay is dangerous, and the sooner the question is disposed of the better it will be for the general politics of the colony. —N.2. Herald.
