SPECIAL LOAN OE £75,000, IVTOTICE IS HEREBY: GIVEN -Er that the Gisborne Borough Council intends to take the necessary, proceedings to obtain the consent of the Electors to borrow, £75,000 byj way of a Special Loan for the following undertakings:— Ist. .The particular undertakings proposed to be engaged in are a. A high-pressure water, supply] from Waihirere, including payment for land already acquired for this purpose and the expenses of acquisition thereof.

b. A system of drainage and sewerage for the Borough of Gisborne. c. Formation and metalling of suoh streets and roads in the Borough of Gisborne as may be decided upon by the Council. d. Repayment of existing Special Loan of ,£3,725. 2nd. The sum proposed to be borrowed for such purpose is £75,000, divided as follows •For Water Supply. £35,000. For Drainage ..£24,275 For Street Formation , and Metalling £IO,OOO For Paying off Existing' • Loan „„ £5,725 3rd. The proposed security for and provision for repayment of the Loan is: The whole of the Water and Drainage Works as undertaken, ■ and a Special Rate of 2s 2d in the Pound upon the annual value of all rateable property within the Borough of Gisborne. It i» expected that the whole of the Special Rate will not require to be colleoted. A sinking fund of one-half (10s) per centum per annum out of suoh Special Rate shall be set aside towards repayment of the loan.

It is proposed to pay the preliminary expenses and first year’s interest out of the loan.
