!OUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
(Per Press Association.) ■ WELLINGTON, last night. The House met at 2.30. In roply to questions Ministers stated that before Government assistance was given to tho fruit growing and preserving industry it would bo necessary to pass tho Orchard and Gardon Pests Bill, so that orchards might bo protocted from ravages of codlin moth and other destructive pests.
That it was intended to briug in a Land Bill this session, but during this session, at any rate, no legislation would be introduced to enable lease in perpetuity tenants to acquire the freehold. The House rose at 5.30.
