The Auckland electric trams commonca running on Sunday nest week. This ia prohibited within tho city by a clause in tho deeds of agreement until a poll of ratepayers, but there is no such provision in the company’s agreement with tho suburban bodies. Omnibuses will run through the city, connecting with the electric cars from noon till 10.30 p.tn. The Tramway Company state they will probably take a vote of city ratepayers on the subject shortly,'the recent municipal poll having been pronounced unsatisfactory. Another development has occurred in connection with the sensational arrest of Geo. Harrison, a supposed burglar. Accused was charged to-day with breaking into the warehouse of Jas. Massey, and Co. and stealing a steel crowbar, found in Buchanan’s doorway, near where he was arrested, and a steol bit. Massoy’s warehouse was broken into and ransacked the same night as the attempt to enter Buchanan’s. Harrison was remanded till Monday. ...... Harry Thornton, a recent arrival in the colony, who attempted to cut his throat at Papakura on Tuesday, was brought to Auckland Hospital, where -he succeeded in accomplishing his purpose last night, jumping from a window. Death was instantaneous.
