FARMERS’ UNION.

TOLAGO BAY BRANCH. A meeting of the Tolago Bay Branch of the Farmers' Union was held at Tolago Bay on the Bth inst. Present; Messrs Morris and Martin Fitzgerald, Spence, Oldfield, Hale, Holder, W. Pierce, Morris, Forsyth, and W. F. Somerville (Chairman). Mi "’tes of the preceding meeting were ' au H w _' confirmed. The Chairman was requested to draw the attention of the County Council to certain works urgently required in the township. On the motion of Mr W.E. Holder the meeting disoussea the question of forming a Road Board or Settlers’ Association in tjxe Interests of the township residents. It was depide.4 to , leave this matter to be dealt with by a meeting of the ratepayers interested. Mr W. F. Hale brought forward a motion condemning the system followed by the Land Board of granting temporary occupation . licenses of town and suburban lands, which he maintained was detrimental to the general progress of a district, besides being in the case of town lands altogether illegal. After considerable discussion the matter was adjourned for further consideration. The temporary appointment by the County .Council pf Mr Hale as health officer or sanitary inspector was announced.
