WESLEY CHOIR CONCERT.
A most successful concert was held in the Wesley Church schoolroom last evening, There was a large attendance, and the items were well received. The programme opened with an overture entitied “ Majestical,” by the orchestra, which was followed by a contribution by the choir, “ All Among the Barley.” Mr C. Piesse gave a capital rendering of “ The Mighty Deep.” An excellent item was a duet by Mrs Vincent and Mr K. Piesse, “ Memories of Home.” A cornet solo by Mr F. Wilkinson was well received. In the quartette, •' The Mooting Bird,” Misses McKay and Golding and Messrs V. Wilkinson and B. Piesse, scored a . great success. Mr V. Wilkinson sang “ The Sleoping Camp,” with good effect, while Mrs Vincent gave an excellent interpretation of “ Love’s Old Sweet Song.” An anthem, “ Oh 1 Shepherd,” was tastefully rendered by the choir. Mr Owen sang “ The King’s Own,” in a taking manner. “ The Cambridge March,” by the Orchestra, was much appreciated. Miss Foster gave a good rendition of “Shells of Ocean,” and Miss McKay’s singing of “ Apart ” was well received. Other excellent items were blackboard sketches by Mr Owen and gramaphono selections. Mr Ball created much mirth with his humorous Irish sketch, entitled “ All thrue the controllin’ influence of dhrink,” for which he received rounds of applause. The programme concluded with a dialogue, “ The Haunted Boom,” which caused a considerable amount of amusement. The parts were ably sustained by Misses Golding, File, Wilkinson and Yeoman, and Messrs V. and F. Wilkinson, G. Bussell, B. Piesse and B. Oxenham. The accompaniments were played by Messrs East aqd Ball.
