Before the inquest on Richard Bishop, found dead in a cottage at Hamilton, the jury,-viewed the body, Which had begun to decompose. The cottage was unsanitary and. unfit for habitation. On tile advice of a medical man, ytlie jury, and the Mayor (who was present and concurred), the Coroner gave the necessary authority to fire the ’ dwelling and cremate • the body. Deceased was last seen alive on Wednesday. The medical evidence showed that deceased suffered from an internal cancer, and died from exhaustion. The jury, brought in a verdict accordingly. MASTERTON, last night*

There is strong evidence that fireraisers have been at work at Masterton daring the last fortnight. Three outbuildings ■ mysteriously, caught fire. A shed in Queen street was burnt on Saturday night, while it was discovered that a further attempt had - been made to set fire to outbuildings at the rear of the premises of J.' L. Murray, in Queen street. ”
