A! FIRE. Per Press Association, CHRISTCHURCH, last nighty By a fire at five o’clock this morning a seven-roomed house at Fendalton, owned and occupied by W. G. Wallish, was destroyed. The outbreak is supposed to have been due to a defective chimney. The insurance on the building was £4OO in the New Zealand Office, and on the furnniture, pianola, and music £455 in the London and Lancashire ; grand piano and two pianolas £285 in the Imperial. MUNICIPAL' CONCILIATION. DUNEDIN, last night.
The City Council met this morning and unanimously agreed to accept the agreement reached by the joint conference last night. The Drainage Board subsequently confirmed the same. A PITIABLE CASE.
'At the inquest on the body of the young man Marshall a verdict was returned that be cut his throat while temporarily insane.
' ANOTHER FIRE. A house in Hyde street, owned by Mucott. of Hampden, and occupied by Detective Cooney, was totally destroyed by fire this morning. Nothing was saved. Cooney’s effects were insured for £l5O in the Sun office, and Mucott had £3OO insurance in the National.
