SOLICITING ORDERS IN PROHIBITED DISTRICT.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, last night. At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, before Mr W. R- Haselden, S.M., Frederick Cross, a Christohurch wine and spirit merchant, appeared to answer a charge under the section of the Alooholic Liquor Sales Control Act which reads, “ It shall not be lawful for any person to solicit or reoeive any order for any liquor within a no-license district.” Defendant had inserted an 'advertisement drawing attention tori'brand of whisky in the Ashburton Guardian. After formal evidence had been given by the proprietor of the paper, the case was adjourned. -DEATH OF OLD IDENTITY.
Captain MoClatchie, who has been asso•stated with the trade of the port of Lyttelton for fifty years, died early this morning. A CALL CONFIRMED.
A mooting ;of tho congregation of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Christchuroh, this evening confirmed a call to the Rev. T. J. Tait, of Bruoswiok, Melbourne. TECHNICAL CLASSES.
The Christchurch technical classes -which were started a short time ago are now attended by over 370 students, and the Board of Managers are experiencing great difficulty in finding accommodation.
