THE NIWARU.
A HEAVY SEA. > By Telegraph —Press Association. Napier, last night. Although tho Niwaru was successfully refloated “yesterday the pumps had made but little impression on the water in No. 4 bold up to this morning, when additional pumps were got to work. The marine superintendent is confident repairs will be effected to enable the steamer to proceed to Auckland. A heavy sea in the bay to-day prevented the lighters working cargo. The lighter Queen, which foundered on Tuesday night, is breaking up. Later.— The.enquiry into the striking of the Niwaru will be held here on Monday. The nautical assessors appointed are Captain Post, of the Tutanekai, and Captain T °ThoNiwaru is to-day lying very snugly at the anchorage. Although a heavy sea has been running, pumping operations have kept the water at about the same height as on the previous day, and two more pumps are being fixed whioh should be ready for working to-morrow, and with their aid it is expected the water will quickly be cleared from the hold.
