RAILWAY SERVICE.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night. A deputation of Members of Parliament waited on the Minister of Railways to-day with reference to regulations under the Railways Superannuation Act. These regulations introduced a new element, and made it appear that time must be unbroken instead of whole time served ..being taken into consideration. The Minister said he was advised that the regulations were strictly in accordance with law. He had made 65 per cent, of the temporary hands permanent, so that they might share in the benefits of the scheme. To allow broken time to count was impossible. It would break down the scheme and necessitate increased contributions.
