HUNTING

(By “Nimrod.”)

At Rangitira on Friday, the 17th inst.’ the hounds threw off on the Lome station 1 the cool day being suitable on account of the fast going. Mr Thornley Sherratt officiated as Master, and left nothing undone, his charger jumping in splendid style. Mr J. Malone, the popular Huntsman was well to the fore throughout on Kaiti. Mr A. McKenzie on T.D. acted as Whip, his mount jamping like a deer. Mr E. F. Devery on Mac also acted as Whip, and the pair did good work. Amopgst those most noticeable were the following: Mr and Mrs Patullo on a pair of fine horses, Mr Allan McLean on a splendid horse, Mr Alex. McLean on Seven and Six, Mr Jas. Devery on Flirtation. Mr Jas. Gerrard on Mr Brown’s Wild Duck jumped very well—one would think she had wings. Hr Brown, on Mr Neenan’s celebrated hunter, had no need to complain. Mr J. McDonald was in a forward position on Blnoher. Mr S. Ruru on a good horse, Willie Devery on Long Frank, and Mr A. Devery.on The Boer laid the 'drag on the Lome and Puha stations in real good style. Messrs Jas. and Artie Devery on Ladybird laid the drag on Mr Patullo’s fine property, thus completing the course. A native had rather an amusjn„- <miil at the last jump on the Lome, causing mTcb laughter. The run through Rangatira was upon as the fastest run yet held on that course, it being a splendid day's outing, everybody enjoying themselves well. Mr and Mrs Allen deserve every credit for the splendid spread, whioh finished th? glW9 Qß *y'
