Dunedin, last night. A largely-attended meeting was held in Kaikorai district this evening to consider the matter of construction a railway up the Kaikorai Valley. The deputy-Mayor of Roslyn, who presided, quoted figures to show that at present 100 tons was carried daily into Kaikorai, of whioh 65 tons was coal. Resolutions were carried, urging that the work of oonstruoting a branoh line from Cattle Yards to Kaikorai Valley be taken in hand at an early date, so as to relieve the oonge3ted traffic at present existing ; in favor of petitioning Parliament to have the line constructed, and setting up a committee to promote the line, the co-operation of members ol Parliament being invited.
