BICYCLE ROAD RACE.
' By Telegraph—Press Association. ; Christchurch, last night. Considerable interest is being displayed r I in the Titnaru to Christchurch road race organised by the Dunlop Tyre Company, which is to take place on Saturday. Entries to the number of 160 have been I received from all parts of the colony, including districts as far north aB the I Thames, and as far south as the Bluff, j The back-markers comprise a very fine I lot of riders, and it is expected that some I remarkable performances will be recorded over the 100 mile course. The scratch I I men are A. BalstoD, A. Calder, G. Suther- I land and E. Connell, and the handicapper has allotted starts up to 50 minutes. The I winner of the race receives a new bicycle as a prize, whilst the rider recording the I fastest time is to be sent to Australia to I represent the colony in the WarrnamboolMelboume road race. The present indications are that the roads over the course will be in very bad order as a result of the heavy snowstorms and succeeding frosts in South Canterbury.
