SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S LIABILITY

At a meeting of the Arthur-street School Committee it was pointed out, on ! the advice of the solicitor, that in the event of an accident to a janitor or any casual laborer working for the committee each individual member was responsible nnder the Workers Compensation for Accidents Act. It was decided to bring the matter before the Education-Board. HARBOR BOARD DEBENTURES.
Otago Harbor Board debentures continue to be in good demand locally; for 52 debentures of £IOO each tenders were received to-day for £26,300. At the meeting of the Finance Committee the whole of the debentures, which have currency of 31 years and bear 5 percent, interest, were allotted at £lll eaoh.
LAND AGENTS’ LICENSE. At a meeting of land agents to consider the Bill for the licensing of land agents, a number of amendments were suggested, including the reduction of the guarantee bond to £SOO and the fixing of £lO as the amount of the annual license.
