The Niwaru is supposed to have ' touched on a rock half a mile to the south-ease of the breakwater, on which there is supposed to he -Shit of water at low tide. Do not anticipate great damage to the Auckland shipments. The Niwaru shipped here for. Lon-, don 2000 cases of gum, 150 bales or wool, 25 tons of tallow, 50 tons ol concentrates, 50 tons of flax, and a largo quantity ol pearl shell. WELLINGTON, yesterday. The Underwriters’ Association received a telegram stating that the <? steamer Niwaru, which struck a rock at Napier, was filling quickly, and had four feet of water in the hold, and to prevent her sinking, she wao ■beached.
